It’s truly amazing that Gov Hochul could wipe out years of effort by the bike rider lobby in only a few days with zero repercussions. If she pandered to this cohort within her constituency to seek election, she needs to be sent a message as elections loom.
Does this author hate her for the change of heart? Do I blame her? Well, in a post COVID NYC where so many commercial buildings are empty and business are closing, her denial of the bill could have actually saved the city. Some believe radical change is needed to fix the city, an argument that could also have legs.
Imagine being a resident in a city that fully favored bikes and electric modes of transportation over gas powered 4-wheeled vehicles. It begs the question, is the timing right?
